Weight Watcher
“Weight Watcher” by James Georgopoulos is a vintage 1940’s refrigerator, retrofitted with a closed circuit video system (from an ex-goverment building), coldly depositing the viewer onto a screen within the appliance.
Inspired by today’s advanced refrigerators, now manufactured with basic artificial intelligence. The front mounted camera is made to make the viewer feel as if they’re being watched, their choices evaluated, as AI will further advance to learn about your habits and assist you.
“Weight Watcher” was part of the 2016 solo show “The Earth is Flat” at MAMA Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. The work is part of the permanent collection on view at the Summit Hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio.
